Trip to Genoa with Photos

Genoa is bright and shiny beautiful harbour in Northwest coast of Italy, about 2 hours train ride from Milan. There are so many things to do in this town, such as a walk in the harbour and the old town, a visit to aquaria, museum, or take a  day boat trip out to nearby villages such as Camogli, San Fruttuoso and Portofino.

We were only there for 3 days 2 night, and I think it was a bit short. Another one or two night stay would be nicer.

Boat Trip to Camogli with Photos

Camogli is beautiful fishing village, off Genoa coast, and a famous tourist resort among the locals or Europeans, located at noth west of Italy. We took a boat trip covering Camogli, San Fruttuoso and Portofino (see the packages at the end of these photos).  Camogli is the biggest town of the three, and the cheapest to dine in. Portofino is the most expensive town of the three. So, this is the best place for you to stop for lunch.

After walking beside the beaches where expensive restaurants are facing the sea, we found a narrow staircases going up among the colourful buildings. We went up and found a farmer markets with some crafts and paintings. There are more restaurants and shops here, and really nice to take a walk.

TOILET

There is a free toilet for public, in the midth of the market. You can either look for the sign board to find the way or ask around. The toilet is quite hidden from the main street.

Among these shops, I found a really nice coffee shop, to my delight.

This cafe is top rated in Trip Advisor and also famous among the locals.
Quite a bit of queue is required to get the famous coffee, but it is worth it, and as a regular coffee drinker myself, its coffee is really aromatic and tasty. A must taste.

I guess too many tourists took photos, so they don't allow photos to be taken inside.

I tried this coffee, caffee camogli, and it is not disappointing. (I am pretty particular with coffee and often disappointed by badly prepared coffee.)

I thought the chalked written directions are pretty cute !

These fried seafood was from a small restaurant near the entrance of the port, up a staircase. Sorry, I didn't take note of its name.  They are cheap. EUR8 for the mixed seafood, and they tasted yummy. Many locals are seen packing from this fast food outlet.

Our favourite is the fried big anchovies. Yummy ! This pack cost  EUR7.

Camogliesi is a local delicacy. Sweet and tasted ok.

Souviniers at Camogli are original and rather creative.
